Contrary to popular belief he didn't have different coloured eyes. He actually had a condition called Anisocoria were one pupil is permanently dilated. The story of how he got it varies but the one I like best is that he and his chum were playing Cowboys and Indians (Cowboys and Native Americans?) and Dave caught an arrow in the eye.
